With broken hearts and a mane full of tears, we have said goodbye to Sipke 450 Sport AA as he was laid to eternal rest Friday evening. We are eternally grateful for gift of the time he allowed us with him and to Aftonmora Friesians for entrusting us with the last part of his journey.
Sipke attended his final Stallion Show with our friend Gaatze and Hengstenhouderij Fam Bosma this past January where he was able to show off one last time. He was loved by so many far and wide, across many continents, worlds apart. From his breeders, Vanderploeg Friesians, to Friesian Connection to De Nieuwe Heuvel to Aftonmora Friesians, Sipke touched the lives of many people across his life, leaving behind a legacy and beautiful offspring to carry on his lineage.
His wonderful trainer Becca stayed by his side all day with the staff from Tufts before the decision was made to peacefully lay him to rest and when we said our final goodbyes, he knew we were with him as he was laid to rest with a mouthful of green grass.

The best horses in Heaven
they have no tail.
This is a rule they all know
without fail.
For when a new horse arrives
with a short cut bob,
they all know that this horse
did a very good job.
His owner could not bear
to part with her friend
so she saved his tail,
wrapped in ribbons
and in braids,
to hold with his memory
in a very loving way.
To enter Heaven
without a tail
is an honor,
a message,
that without fail
announces to everyone,
far and wide
that this horse
was more than a wonderful ride.
But
this horse was loved and cherished by one
and when his time serving on this Earth was done
he left behind
a broken heart
and a soul
from which he never will part.
